Climate in focus
A crisis is not a catastrophe. At The Offset, we believe in the science of climate change, but reject the helplessness that too often accompanies it. There is still time to act—if not to prevent, then to mitigate and adapt.
Climate coverage is too often distant and disconnected from human experience. Today, as rising nationalism, resource competition, and political backlash against environmental policy undermine climate action in many regions—against the scientific consensus—we strive to make sense of this complex, urgent moment.
Indeed, the climate crisis increasingly touches every part of our lives, shaping personal, ethical, and consumer choices. The Offset aims to help readers navigate the overwhelming flow of climate information, offering clarity without sensationalism.
Based in London, we report on the climate crisis and the efforts to combat it in the UK and around the world, drawing global parallels in a moment that connects people across nations and borders.
Above all, we are committed to linking the personal with the political, the particular with the universal. Our stories are rooted in the climate emergency but never reduced to it, showing how this crisis intersects with politics, technology and the economy, arts, culture, and daily life.
We reject fatalism. The crisis demands urgency, clarity, and imagination—not despair. Our aim is to equip our readers not only to understand the world as it is, but to help shape what comes next.
